Torchwood Finale and the Return of Doctor Who
Posted on: April 5, 2008 at 11:57 am | Posted under: TelevisionTorchwood, the Doctor Who spinoff, ended its second season last night on BBC. The plot was well executed, as Captain John Hart returned under the control of Captain Jack’s brother – Grey. Turns out that Grey was alive all those years and came back to seek revenge on his brother for losing him when their planet was invaded during their childhood. Captain Jack ended up having to neutralize his brother, Grey, to keep his team from getting killed. Unfortunately, two team members died, ending the show and the season on a low note. Toshiko, the computers expert; and Owen, the medical officer both passed away. So, if the rumors are true about Torchwood being ‘watered-down’ and characters not returning, then last night’s finale sure solidified those.
Returning tonight is the fourth season of the new Doctor Who. David Tenant remains as the tenth doctor and comedian Catherine Tate reprises her role as Donna Noble. Donna will be the doctor’s new companion this season. NBC has picked up the series and will be airing it on their sister network: SciFi. SciFi will begin airing episodes on April 18. Also coming to SciFi will be the Sarah Jane Adventures – I will not be watching that one as it is more of a kids show.
Another note on Doctor Who, BBC has placed the show on its top network, BBC One. The show’s site, located at: http://bbc.co.uk/doctorwho, has been given a new look and offers exclusive clips and trailers for each episode coming this season.
That’s all for now, time to get back to work.
Cheers!
