YouMail – A Great Voicemail Application

I am trying out YouMail, which is a voicemail system that is an alternative to the standard voicemail that my wireless carrier offers. The thing that is great about this is that I get an email and a text message alerting me that I have a new message and can play the MP3 right within Gmail. The best feature, in my opinion is that I can block unknown or CID blocked callers from leaving me a message – this is great for all of the telemarketers that insist on calling me, even though I am on the Do Not Call registry.

The other great thing about this system is that I can setup custom voicemail greetings for people that call me. So I can have the funny greetings for friends & family, but keep a professional greeting for business contacts. This certainly beats paying for ringback tones!

The YouMail system is free, and the web interface is easy to use. Tutorials are available for mostly all phones on how to setup the service and even re-assign the voicemail shortcut to go their service.

I plan on continuing to use YouMail, considering it is the closest thing I will get to visual voicemail on the iPhone for quite a long time.

Cheers!
