CBS’ way to make things better…

I signed up for the CBS Eye-lert, which emails me to let me know if sporting events are going to ruin my evening programs.  I must say that this is a damn joke and is just a way for the execs to cover their ass because they still don’t know how to schedule around the football season.

I still believe that CBS needs to learn how to schedule around sporting events and push their evening programs back to start at 8pm like FOX does.  I use a TiVo and can’t go change recording options for each show when I am not home.

Get a clue and fix your program line-up!

The Amazing Race starts in September, don’t expect to watch it on time…

CBS has started promos for The Amazing Race during their primetime programming.  The new season will premiere on September 28 at 8pm, but don’t expect to watch it on time.  No this is not a plug about how amazing having a TiVo is, it is about how CBS doesn’t know how to run their network.

Over the past couple years, I have developed an extreme dislike for the idiots at CBS that put the schedule together.  When you run a live sporting event in the late afternoon, do not expect it to fit within the 3 hour block that you designate for it.  This is a known fact to FOX, that places an hour of repeat comedy shows into their schedule before the 8pm hour of new shows.  CBS just doesn’t understand this.  Instead of creating a buffer for the games that will inevitably run longer, they feel the need to have 60 Minutes in the schedule at 7pm.  Because 60 Minutes is a new episode each week, the full episode has to run and it is not something that can be cut off by the primetime programs at 8pm.  THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO RUN A NETWORK!

It seems that CBS doesn’t give a crap what their viewers think, since I have been writing to them each Monday morning when this happens the night before.  They never respond and have not done anything to change the schedule.  It has happened once already this summer with golf and an episode of Big Brother starting 45 minutes late, it will only get worse when the NFL regular season begins.

So, if you are looking forward to the new season of The Amazing Race, don’t expect to watch it on time.  CBS thinks that a shotty news program produced by senior citizens is more important than keeping viewers happy.  No wonder ratings have been horrible for them.

Cheers!

FOX, almost as bad as CBS

Well, I am continuing in the post-Idol blogging here, with a rant from one of my good friends that is super-pissed at FOX.  Given that they couldn’t keep the show within the two hours last night, and he recorded it, he is mad as to how it was cut-off.  Here is his post:

Can someone please tell me…you get 2 hours for the Idol finale. Do you think you could possibly make the announcement before the start of the 3rd hour???? This is exactly what I got on my DVR ( i can’t stay up till 10..that’s just not in my sleeping schedule.) And the winner of American Idol 2008 with 12 million more votes is..
And the DVR stops recording!
Seriously! Really?? You’ve got to be kidding me!

I truly understand Brian’s frustration.  I started my recording around 9:30 and just had it on as background noise.  If it hadn’t been for @iJustine giving us the spoiler of who won, then I would have been pissed about them not keeping the show within the two hours.

Given how FOX can’t keep a show within two hours and how CBS manages to screw-up their Sunday nights during football season, are they even listening to the consumer?  No matter how many times I write and let them know my frustrations over this, they don’t seem to care.  In fact, things just keep getting worse.

I am looking forward to the day of IPTV, but with the way the ISPs have been acting lately, that will get interfered with too.

Cheers!
